NewTechWood Coastal decking has a great reputation gained through the luxurious look of the 210mm wide board. NewTechWood Coastal decking in Beech colour is a win-win combination! Beech is a popular colour among coastal, waterside, and Hampton-style homes, offering a light, airy, free-spirited, “beachy” vibe.
Proud Projects is a building company based on the Mornington Peninsula, south of Melbourne in Victoria, offering over 12 years of experience constructing high-quality builds with a “touch of class” finish. And if you are living in a canal-rich suburb, chances are you appreciate a “touch of class”, too, right?
So, it was no surprise to discover Proud Projects were the installers of this beautiful NewTechWood deck in Patterson Lakes. This is not their first NewTechWood project, and the decking was supplied by NewTechWood resellers Mornington Timber and Decking. So, the owners definitely got their touch of class in all regards.
This project required the replacement of an existing deck, complete with deck lights. Proud Projects also renovated two bathrooms and two powder rooms while on the job.
NewTechWood Coastal Decking in Beech
The owners chose NewTechWood Coastal decking in Beech colour, because they liked the wider 210mm boards. And because they live by the water, they also liked the low maintenance factor and its ability to stand up to the elements.
Rarely is a job without its tests and trials, however, and on this occasion, the challenges faced by the team involved access to the property and materials handling.
Chris and his team had to double-handle the materials away from the water’s edge as the tide almost got to them. The only flat section to store the materials was on the sand. They also had to devise a solution to ensure the storage seat was safe to lift/close and hired a trade specialising in gas struts.
One of our favourite aspects of project snapshots is digging up amusing anecdotes because we all like a chuckle. So, while it is good to know nobody shot themselves in the foot with a nail gun, one carpenter did send a length of decking through the existing window during demolition. Wouldn’t that have made a great video?
They also had to hand load all the materials via the neighbour’s yard as there was no side access through the client’s own home. It took Chris and the delivery driver 4 hours, in 32-degree heat, to accomplish. Not a lot of fun, but such is the life of an Aussie tradie!
On the plus side, the neighbours were so impressed that they have since advised that they will be in touch to discuss their proposed deck renovations. There is always a silver lining!
You can find most of it on the website if you’d like to know more about our Coastal range. The nutshell version is it is BAL29 rated, has a P5 slip rating, a 25-year warranty, and, like all NewTechWood products, requires no ongoing maintenance other than to clean it occasionally.
